History
Sloth is a Zinfandel from Mendocino County and a first for Michael David Winery. One of California’s coolest growing regions for Zin, Mendocino is an area that is known to produce rich and dark colored wines – as well as its laid back hippy culture – making it the perfect growing region for a wine that invites you to slow down and take in life’s simple pleasures. The grapes for this wine come from the Larramendy vineyard, a bi-lateral planting from the 1950s whose gravely loam soil helps exhibit the structured spicy terroir of the area. Our wine making team is continuing to produce top quality wines not only from Lodi, but other top Zinfandel growing regions around California.
Tasting Notes
Not the furry little 3 toed animal, this is the reclusive old man from up in the hills! Sloth hails from Mendocino County, a region known for rich, peppery Zins that entice you to slow down and take in the moment. Aromas of cherry, fig, vanilla and clove fill the nose while bright cherry fruit, toasted marshmallow and nutmeg flavours lead to a spice-filled finish with noticeable tannin structure. Pairs well with patchouli oil, burning sage and Birkenstocks.
